How to talk to kids about their soul

How to talk to kids about their soul

Their invisible power source

From the first moment you hold a newborn baby, whether it is your own child or your niece, nephew or grandbaby, you get a feeling of something magical.

Something divine.

You sense the arrival of their soul, their spirit, long before you hear their first words.

And even though you understand that babies are born around the world every day – you still feel that their arrival is truly miraculous.

It is hard to put into words. But something has shifted. Something new has begun. They are here! And who are they? What is that presence you are connecting to?

As you cradle them, you know there is so much more to them than just their human body, mind and heart. You look into their eyes and know there is something deeper, something eternal, something timeless about them. You sense their soul.

And as they grow up and you see them in their most joyful, happy moments, you watch their eyes light up, you can see it! You can see their soul shining bright.

But how to explain this to a child? Of 3, or 5 or 7 years old? Are they too young to be told they have a soul and there is more to them than their body, thoughts and emotions?

I don’t think so. And I think you might feel the same. You would agree that our little ones are wiser than we give them credit for.

So, here is what I have told my children about their soul. I hope that you can take some of these words, the ones that resonate with you, to help you talk to your child about their soul  “You have a heart, with which you feel. You have a mind, with which you think. You have a body, with which you move. And you have a soul - the invisible part of you! It is your essence, your spirit, your spark. It fills and surrounds your body. It is your life force. Your invisible power source! And one day when your life on Earth ends, it is the part of you that travels on, to heaven and beyond. Perhaps coming back to Earth again at another time. To live another life, in a different body, with a different name. So enjoy and make the most of this life my darling child! Listen to your feelings, try to keep your thoughts positive and focused on all that you wish to see, do or become. And always remember there is so much more to you than you can see in the mirror. You have a big, powerful soul! Always remember to let your soul shine bright.”

 I hope it helps xo
