Spring is here in Australia and I have been soaking up the gorgeous spring sunshine and admiring the first of the spring wildflowers in the bush. With the arrival of spring, I’m beyond excited to share something magical with you… we are only days away from the cover reveal of my brand-new children’s picture book, My Mermaid Treasure!
Before the unveiling, I want to take you behind the scenes and share the story behind the story - how this enchanting mermaid book came to life.
The Inspired Download ✨
About 18 months ago, in the quiet hours of the night, I woke around 2am with a flood of images filling my mind. It felt like a vivid dream, but clearer, like watching a film reel unfold before me.
I could see the entire story, page by page, of My Mermaid Treasure — mermaids exploring a sparkling underwater crystal cave, swimming through a colourful coral reef, relaxing in a seaweed garden, playing beneath rainbows, splashing in a tropical lagoon, and grounding on golden rocks by the shore. 🧜♀️🌊✨
The words weren’t yet visible, but the impressions were strong. I sketched the images, jotted down notes, and trusted that the right affirmations and story lines would arrive in time.
And they did. Through meditation and quiet walks along the beach, the words began to flow. One of the most powerful lines came to me whilst I was at the beach:
“In magical ways, you are here to make waves.
To trailblaze. To see and explore!”
This became the heart of the story - guiding children to remember their inner strength, courage, and adventurous spirit.
How My Mermaid Treasure Was Created
Bringing this book to life has been such a joyful journey. I’ve been blessed to work with my wonderful editor, Kellie Nissen, who helps polish these inspired downloads into stories that uplift young readers.
And the breathtaking illustrations by Alison Mutton bring the underwater mermaid world alive in dazzling colour. Children will light up as they discover magical scenes - like the vibrant coral reef page, which is already my daughter’s favourite!
